Styling Spicy Mustard

If your wardrobe doesn’t have the spicy mustard color in it then you must go out and get it! I kid you not, once you see what an amazing color this is you will not regret it. As a matter of fact most of the runway shows think so too, spicy mustard has been highlighted in plenty of the Fall 2016 collections.

I absolutely love this color! So I wanted to share my ideas with you on how to style this beautiful color and make it pop!

Just like the tree leaves, this fabulous color screams fall. I could not resist it. So I went on the hunt for a piece in spicy mustard of my own. I found it at J.Crew. It was a gorgeous woolen pencil skirt that I knew I could use in fall, winter and spring. One piece that could be worn in many seasons made me very happy. Here are four ways you can style this color.

With Gingham

When you have a lovely bold colored monochrome skirt it is so easy to introduce prints to the top. That’s exactly what I did. I have chosen a J.Crew gingham shirt in dark blue and grey tones. This print and color lends a lovely contrast to the outfit making it really pop! I am also wearing a lovely Loft necklace in deep maroon and carrying a Marc Jacobs crossbody. With these lovely colors in the outfit I kept my shoes fairly skin toned but dramatic. They are a lovely pair of Aldo lace ups! I am really digging them this season.

With Dusty Pink

If you have been following the color trends in Fall 2016 then you know that this one is hot right now! If you haven’t, no problem, that’s why I am here ๐Ÿ™‚ Dusty pink and spicy mustard, the unusual color pairing has been taking fall by storm. I wanted to bring a little piece of the runway to my sidewalk off-the-runway style ๐Ÿ™‚

I paired a J.Crew T-shirt sweater in dusty pink with a spicy mustard pencil skirt. To accentuate the waist, I have used an Ann Taylor animal print belt. This look is perfect for work! Keeping that in mind I have finished it off with a pair of bowed nude pumps and a pearl necklace. Isn’t it just perfectly chic and polished?!

With Maroon or Blue

Are striking color combinations your go to look? Then these two ideas are for you!

Pairing spicy mustard with maroon is fall perfect. I mean, look at it, everything about the colors are fall! The two colors really play off of each other well and look fabulous. With such a strong statement for the outfit I would suggest keeping everything else neutral. Thus, I have opted in for  lovely cream statement necklace from Anthropologie and a pair of skin colored Aldo lace ups.

Another great way to make spicy mustard pop is to pair it with a lovely blue hue. The two colors together will make you stand out! Again, keeping the same rule in mind, since I have two bold colors I have kept my shoes in a neutral tone.

Classic

Want to keep the look classic? Well then, all you really need to do is find a white lace top or a white button down shirt! There ain’t nothing better than plain ole white for bringing out uber chic and classic in just about any look!

I have paired the skirt with a lovely Loft blouse and added a tad bit of drama with a pair of sexy animal print pumps.

I love a good mustard item of clothing but I’m not brave enough to wear it so I dress my toddler in it instead ๐Ÿ™‚ #weekendbloghop

I used to have a pair of pants in this color! I never could pair them in ways that I was happy – except the one time with the blue polka dots. I love the color on you though!
