Our Baby Girl’s Nursery

When we found out we were expecting a baby girl I couldn’t contain my excitement. Dressing her up and decorating her nursery was so exciting and we couldn’t wait to get started! I went through many a Pinterest pins trying to find inspiration for what I wanted the nursery to look like. I didn’t want it to be overly pink or too girly. Here is what Chloe’s nursery finally looks like and I love it!

The Theme

After looking around I knew settling on a single concept for my theme was going to be hard. I wanted to blend in two things that I really loved and look so adorable in nurseries – Flowers and Animals! So we decided that we were going to pull in both and give it a chic touch.

The Colors

My husband and I argued endlessly over what the colors needed to be. We finally agreed on having one wall in Silver Peony from Sherwin Williams and the other walls in Gossamer also from Sherwin Williams. We painted the walls ourself! My husband and my 4 month preggo self did it! It was fun and stressful at the same time.

The Furniture

Once we had the colors and theme picked out the next big decision was all the furniture. We looked at several stores and spent weeks trying to find the pieces we loved. We finally settled on the Graham collection from Pottery Barn Kids. We got the Crib, Nightstand and Changing table all in the color Heritage fog. We also pick two pieces of white furniture from Wayfair, one for books and the other for storing boxes with little knick knacks.

The other big purchase was the rocking chair. We decided on the Modern Wingback Glider and Ottoman in the Platinum shade, also from Pottery Barn Kids. We absolutely loved that it reclined and moved with so much ease.

The Decor

When pulling in our theme into decor pieces we wanted it to flow through the rooms effortlessly. We wanted one feature wall and the crib would be on that wall. For our feature wall we bought some beautiful peony decals in two different colors. My husband and I spent an entire day blue taping the decals to the wall to figure out the placement before we stuck them on. We also bought a beautiful wooden name sign in gold to mount above her crib. We also placed a white fur rug in front of her crib to add in a chic touch! Our feature wall looked beautiful (even better since we put in all the effort 😛 )!

We bought an adorable giant giraffe named Sophie to guard the crib as my hubby says 🙂 We also found a cute painting of a giraffe that we loved for one of the walls. We picked some beautiful animal printed bedding for the crib and changing table. We picked the Dancing Hippo and Jungle Animals themed bedding from Crate and Kids.

We picked a bunch of stuffed animals from Pottery Barn Kids that looked absolutely adorable.

We found a stunning blush colored floral chandelier from Pottery Barn Kids that looked perfect!

When our baby girl moves to her nursery for bedtime, we really needed a system so we could see her and make sure she was ok. We initially bought the Cacoon cam, but after the app froze multiple times and crashed we researched again for a new system.

We have bought the Owlet. The new Owlet has a sock and camera integration and it has amazing reviews. We will be installing it in our nursery shortly.

The Final Personalized Touch

For the final touches we created a picture wall with our maternity pictures and some beautiful quotes printed on animal themed backgrounds. We placed the picture wall over the changing table.

At my baby shower we did some arts and craft at the Indigo & Violet Studio. My girlfriends and I painted the entire alphabet. We lined the non feature wall along the ceiling with these hand painted wooden alphabet. I love that I have a piece of all of their love in the nursery <3

We use the nursery for playtime, reading and changing diapers. She absolutely loves looking at the animals, the flowers and the pictures. She coos and smiles at them. We love watching her in the nursery, it melts our hearts!

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Spending some time and actual effort to generate a very good article… but what can I say… I hesitate a
lot and don’t seem to get nearly anything done.

Beautiful space! This may be a random question but so helpful to know: what is the height of your ceilings for the grace flower chandelier that you purchased? I am trying to decide if my 8 foot ceilings are tall enough! Thanks in advance!

Hi Tara. Thank you so much. Our ceilings are about 9ft – 10ft high 🙂 The grace flower chandelier height is also adjustable which is nice.
