Time to talk about another one of my wedding gown shopping sprees. This time I booked an appointment at Nordstrom. Read on to see all the gorgeous dresses I tried on this time. Perhaps it will give you a sense of what looks good on a tiny framed woman 🙂
Nordstrom ($1000 – $15000)
You can see I went in with a fairly open mind, though I think you can tell I was slowly zeroing in on one thing – I wanted as close to strapless as I could get! That brings me to my next tip:
Trust your gut! Once you’ve kissed a couple of frogs you can see a few rays of prince charming coming through! Prioritize that and use it to short list and pick.
I started out with a strapless dress. It was a trumpet style dress and I was starting to like that style a lot! I tried on 4 different ones in this style. I loved the strapless embellished one the most! However, there was one teeny tiny problem, I wanted a long train and it didn’t have one. I put on a long veil to see if I got the same effect, but I still wasn’t happy. I also wasn’t ready to compromise!
During trial, put on as many wedding day accessories as you can (Belt, Veil, Crown etc). It will give you the authentic feel of what you would look like on your wedding day!
Next I tried on a ballroom style wedding gown! It was elegant and beautiful, but for some reason it wasn’t me! I wanted more drama in my dress and while I did think it was gorgeous I gave it a pass.
There will be many a beautiful gown, but choose the one the suits your personality! After all it’s your day and your chance at translating what love means to you in the form of a gorgeous gown!
At the insistence of the stylist I tried on a peplum style gown. She loved it on me, I honestly didn’t like it! It didn’t make me feel like a bride and for that I was very quick to give it a pass.
I tried on another Grecian-esque style gown. It fitted me well, was beautiful but it lacked two things on my priority list – it wasn’t strapless and it had no train!
After a couple of hours of gown trying at Nordstrom, I decided that none of the gowns were for me! It was sad, but I was ok with what had transpired. I had tried on a couple of gowns and now I knew that all the gowns I tried in the future would have to have a long train and be strapless unless they were dramatically different!
I could feel myself getting close to what the gown of my dreams would look like! The question was, would everything I wanted be in one single piece?
All in all I would say that Nordstrom had some lovely pieces. I would definitely recommend you check it out. The price range does vary a ton so make sure you know your budget before you get here!

Shop Similar Gowns
The trumpet style is quite gorgeous on you! Agree with the peplum though-it will look dated in just a few years and you want something classicly beautiful! Good luck finding your dress-I stumbled on mine in the first shop I went in, and while I loved it I kinda missed on multiple dress shopping experiences-but oh well!
