Picking the right accessories for a classic printed dress can be hard sometimes. There could be any number of issues from trying to be too matchy-matchy to going over the top. So I have come up with a couple of tips to help you style your classic printed dress!

Let’s start by talking about this dress. I bought this dress at J.Crew when it was on sale on Black Friday. It fits me like a glove and I love it. If there was ever a dress made just for me this one is it! The print is stunning and the material is perfect for fall and winter. I love the length too. When you have a dress as stunning as this and you want to style it keep these tips in mind.
Let The Dress Do the Talking
Have you picked a dress that fits you like a glove? Does the print look fabulous? Do you feel more confident than ever when you’re wearing it? Then why do you want to take attention away from it? Let your pretty classic printed dress be the center of attention!
Accentuate Your Waist
When you’re petite like I am you always want to accentuate your waist. This gives you more definition while elongating your legs. So when you’re wearing a beautiful fitted dress pick a belt to go with it. The key to picking the belt is knowing your occasion, pick a subtle belt whose color is based in the dress for work but pick a more flashy and contrasting one for a night out. I have picked the blue Banana Republic belt for work and the gold braided Anthropologie belt for a night out!

A Pair of Pumps Will Go A Long Way
I really do love a great pair of pumps! Read my post on Make Your Legs Look Longer and you will know why I love pumps 🙂 But to make a long story short, pumps with a pointed toe and a small vamp that match your stockings will always elongate you! So when you have a dress that hits at the knee like this one does this is the best way to get some leg length.
Less is More
When you wear a lovely classic dress keeping the accessories to a minimum always looks sophisticated. Especially at work, wearing fewer accessories is always better. It’s lesser distraction and makes you look more professional. All I have on is a Tory Burch watch and a bracelet. This keeps the classic vibe of the entire look!
Monochrome vs Printed Bags
There is always a debate about using print on prints. But in my opinion the leopard skin print is as versatile as they come when you want to mix and match. I also love leopard print because of the edge it immediately provides to any look. So I picked the leopard skin bag for my date night look. However it was too much for a professional style. To keep my professional look simple and chic I am carrying a black Coach bag.

All I have done is switch up the belt and the bag to go from a night look to professional look. I have also provided you a tip on mixing up prints for a classic printed dress and styling it 🙂 I hope you find some inspiration from this post to style your own looks!
