I was looking at my closet this weekend thinking I had some more time with my sundresses since it was over 70F outside. Then this week the temperature dropped. But I still didn’t want to put my sundresses away. Which is when it hit me, perhaps there are other girls going through the same fashion dilemma 🙂 So here are a few tips for all my petite girls out there on how to style a sundress in fall.
Wear a Long Cardigan
I really like wearing a long cardigan on a short sundress in fall. Try to keep the length of the cardigan and the sundress the same. This way your legs tend to look longer! This style is your friend my petite lovelies! The other pro of wearing a long cardigan is that when it’s windy the heavier layer prevents your dress from flying up too much 🙂
Belt it High
When you wear a layer over your sundress in fall be sure to cinch it at your empire waist. Your empire waist is just below your bust and slightly higher than your natural waist. This helps elongate your legs and also gives you a nice shape. It also helps prevent the cardigan from swallowing your tiny frame up!
I love booties in fall. The bootie-dress combination really looks stunning. For petite girls try going in for a shade of booties close enough to your skin color whether its lighter or darker, this way you are not causing an abrupt break in your legs where you bootie shaft begins. This elongates your leg length making you look taller!
Add a Pop of Color
It’s fall, the leaves are colorful and very pretty so why not take that inspiration to your look? Add in a nice pop of color! I have done it with my bag. You could do it with a scarf, a necklace or even your cardigan!
Add a bold accessory to finish off your look. It could be a statement necklace or a nice structured bag. I have chosen the latter. Bold accessories are in this fall. Go bold or go home is a phrase I have read a lot! Bold could mean a bold color, a big bold structure, just plain big like a statement necklace or a bold print perhaps. You can have your pick!
I have many more ideas for styling a sundress for fall. Now that fall temperatures are finally here I shall start putting those ideas together as well for another post full of tips for all my wonderful readers! I hope you enjoyed this post in the mean time! Stay tuned 🙂
