The basics of color theory is something I studied about in school. Little did I know that one day it would be of such great use to me while picking out my outfit!
For this look I have intentionally focussed on complementary colors. It all started when I picked out this skirt and turned to my husband and said, “what do you think looks better, yellow or orange?” Without any hesitation he responded, “well orange is the natural complement to blue!” I guess the logical male mind huh! Well it helped me 🙂 I do think yellow would look great on this skirt too, but orange definitely brings out the blue.
This is a wonderful skirt. I honestly have never ventured into midi skirt territory but I really loved how this looked! Better yet, this skirt is under $100 at Banana Republic.
I have paired it with this lovely, casual, lightweight cotton top from Loft. The orange and blue colors are of a similar level of saturation which makes this outfit particularly striking!
For the rest of the look, I stuck to gold accessories to add in a little touch of shine! I am wearing a gold Anthropologie necklace, J.Crew earrings, a Michael Kors watch and a lovely ring from Ariella.
I am also carrying a gold clutch from J.Crew and I have paired it with a pair of nude pumps from Nine West.
For the finishing touches and in keeping with the warm climate, I have pulled my hair up in a lovely backroll. A touch of glam, old Hollywood and I am ready!
This look makes me very happy! Hey I brushed up on some school learnings and used them too (knowingly this time!). Whether its work, a night out, date night or brunch, this summery look will get you through everything with ease!
