After some amazing weather in the middle of February we are headed for a cold weekend. If you’re not ready to get back into full winter gear but want to strike a balance between spring and winter then read on. I am going to give you tips on how to style a chambray dress for winter!
I love chambray in spring. The lovely light blue chambray dress is so great to style. That’s when I realized that I could turn my spring wardrobe staple into a winter look too! I have styled 3 looks that will keep you warm and looking chic at the same time the weekend!
Pull a Sweater Over It!
It honestly didn’t occur to me that a sweater over a chambray dress would look good especially since I am petite. I didn’t want to book boxy because that would only make me look shorter. But I really liked the camel and blue combination so I decided to give it a shot! I pulled a J.Crew sweater over my Loft dress and guess what, it did look boxy with just the dress and the sweater over it. Then it occurred to me, I could use the belt to give my look some structure and shape by cinching at the waist! After I did that I really liked how it turned out! I finished off the look with a pair of tights and brown booties.
To make the look a bit more interesting from a color perspective I added in some maroon with a gorgeous ethnic necklace and a Kate Spade bag with a cute pink bow.
A Wool Coat Ought To Do It!
When it’s cold outside it usually means that any place you go to, where you cannot control the temperature yourself, it’s going to be hot! Like your workplace. This look is great for a casual Friday at work. Throw on a structured woolen coat over your chambray dress, perhaps pick a little necklace and really that’s all you need! I am wearing my beautiful J.Crew coat, it’s warm, it’s pretty and I love the color. I am also wearing a pair of tights from J.Crew and Seychelles boots. To add a tad bit of edge to the look I decided to carry my Kate Spade leopard print bag!
A Woolen Vest Layer!
I had this lovely, cozy little woolen vest sitting in my closet from edc by Espirit. It was warm but too warm when paired with another woolen sweater especially when it isn’t subzero temperatures. However it was the perfect amount of warmth to add to a lovely chambray dress. Bonus points for this vest for having a belt!
This is such a cute casual look especially when you add in the pop of red with the booties, some pink with the Kate Spade bag and the blend of both colors in my bracelets. I am also wearing a lovely little hat to add a feminine touch to the look! This outfit will have you weekend ready in no time!
The latest weather forecast has today being cold and rainy but it has snow forecast for tomorrow. So these looks ought to have you all set for the cold weather!
