Are you going on vacation anytime soon? If not now then you will be at some point right? Well then if you’re a fashionista like me you’ll probably be thinking about what to wear? What’s your outfit for exploring a city going to be? Exploring a city can be fun and with all the photo opps you also want to take a good outfit out and about! So what is a good outfit? Read on to know more 🙂

Shein Layered Dress - Outfit for Exploring

Shein Layered Dress – Outfit for Exploring

Usually exploring a city comes with a ton of walking. You will probably be doing it in reasonable weather. I will focus on fall here. I am also going to assume you will do it mainly during the daytime. With all those assumptions set, lets look at what some key tips are..

Layers

Fall is synonymous with layers. When out and about exploring a city in fall you want to make sure to layer up in case it gets chilly. You can also make sure to check the weather ahead of time and carry a layer with you if needed. When we were in Edinburgh, the temperature was such that it would be slightly too warm for layers and slightly too cold for non sweater wear. This Shein dress was the perfect solution for an outfit for exploring. Its an illusion sweater dress. So I have the warmth of the wool and the effect of layers, but in reality its just a single dress 🙂 It was comfortable, as you want your clothes to be when you will be doing a ton of walking and it was chic. It was the perfect combination for city exploration!

Comfortable Boots

With a ton of walking comes achy feet unless you pick a pair of shoes that will be kind to your feet! I bought these Freebird boots a little while back and made sure to try them out and wear them in before I decided if they were boots that were meant for walkin’! They were! The boots were a lovely distressed whiskey color (perfect for Edinburgh with all its whisky :P) and kept my legs warm too.

A Bag to Carry a Camera (at least!)

Let me be honest about this one, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to carry a backpack or a crossbody. Either one would be great but it depends on how much stuff you want to carry with you. I wanted to have a space for my camera, some maps, hand sanitizer and my phone. So I decided to pick my Chloe Drew Leather bag. It was chic, the perfect color for my look and was just the right size.

Sunglasses

Day exploring usually means sunny. We got really lucky in Edinburgh and had sunshine throughout our stay. That mean sunscreen and of course sunglasses. I had these gorgeous pair of Ferragamo sunglasses that I carried with me and used the entire day.

Hair Tied!

Usually when I go out walking about, I want to have my hair tied. That’s mainly because I don’t want a gust of wind getting my hair in knots and not to mention ruining a perfectly good picture 🙂 So I pulled my hair back into a low ponytail, it’s low maintenance and easy to redo when needed.

Extras!

I finished up the look with a pair of sheer stockings for a tad more protection from the chilly breeze. It was also protection against the wind getting my dress to fly 🙂 For my accessories I kept it simple yet elegant with a beautiful T+J Designs necklace.

Also, I wanted to call out the use of some key colors from the 2017 Fall Color Palette. I have incorporated the pink and grey shades together, don’t they look great?! Look at all the shades here

This outfit for exploring the city worked out great. We explored the city for 5 hours, all on foot! I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved Edinburgh, it’s such a lovely city! I hope you loved my look and I sure do hope the tips help you when you’re out exploring the next time 🙂

xoxo
