I know I have been MIA for a while. I was on vacation and made a conscious decision to try and stay away from my laptop. Best decision I made 🙂 But now I am back and have a long time up of posts from my vacation. This will be the first! I hope you enjoy it and get some tips around a day trip outfit.
Let me start by saying my go to outfit for a day trip is usually a pair of jeans coupled with a top of some sort and flats or boots. It easy, comfortable and convenient. So when we were going to Keukenhof, the tulip gardens in Holland, that was my first thought. But I also wanted to get some pics wearing a beautiful dress. That’s when it hit me, I could definitely wear a dress, I just needed to make the outfit easy, comfortable and convenient!
When I bought this Mango dress, besides its pretty floral print and eye-catching neckline, the material was soft and breathable. When you’re going to spend about 4 hours walking and you cover about 6 miles on foot you want to be comfortable! This dress was the perfect combination of cute and comfortable.
Oh and don’t forget to accessorize. A pair of sunglasses and an Apple watch is a must for recording all those steps 🙂
The next big piece about the outfit was finding the right pair of shoes. I needed shoes that were comfortable to walk in for extended period of times and that would stand up to uneven terrain. So heels of any sort were out of the question. So I decided to go with a pair of sneakers. I had the perfect pair with red stripes from Seavees that I bought at J.Crew. They were comfy and definitely looked cute with the dress.
When traveling I love to carry a crossbody. In my opinion its the easiest way to carry stuff and access it. I needed to carry one that was just big enough to house some small things like sunscreen, hand sanitizer, sunglasses and water. I was mooching money off my husband so didn’t need a wallet 😛 This Chloe bag was perfect for both the look and carrying my stuff.
Coat with Pockets
One big thing I was giving up by no wearing jeans for this day trip outfit was pockets! I cannot tell you how much I love pockets. For my cell phone, for tickets or documents and random stuff that you can just shove into your pockets. I needed some way to make up for this. It was also a cool day and the dress would leave me shivering. As they say, one stone and two birds! My trench coat served both those purposes 🙂 I love this Banana Republic trench coat. It’s classy and goes with any look.
We did a day trip to Keukenhof and it’s a day I will forever remember. I love tulips and this garden plants 7 million every year! It’s such a beautiful sight, just like a dreamy painting. I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re anywhere near it.
I hope this day trip outfit and my tiny tit-bit on Keukenhof was helpful. Happy Saturday!
